Educators respect and value the history of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis in Canada and the impact of the past on the present and the future. Educators contribute towards truth, reconciliation, and healing. Educators foster a deeper understanding of ways of knowing and being, histories, and cultures of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis.
We have been given so many opportunities to learn more about Indigenous ways of knowing and being, which is something I have weaved into my current teaching, as well as my future teaching. I approach Indigenous teaching as a forever learner, as there is still so much more I need and want to learn, and will strive for throughout my career and personal life.
